Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for every other style of dance. Ballet is extremely technical and precise; it is an elegant and graceful dance style. Ballet uses French terminology in order to describe it's movements.
CLASSES*
TAP
Tap is a dance style that resembles percussion. Tap shoes have metal plates on the ball and heel of the foot. Tap is a fun, upbeat dance that requires intricate footwork.
JAZZ
Jazz dancing is a style that is fast and upbeat. It requires technique and flexibility, as this style often includes turns and leaps. Jazz is a dance that displays personality in every move.
LYRICAL
The lyrical dance style is very technical requiring a strong base in ballet. Lyrical is very elegant and graceful with each move leading right into the next. This style of dance is meant to look effortless and express emotion from the heart.
MUSICAL THEATER
The dance style of Musical Theater focuses on performance. Performance is a huge part of dance especially in Musical Theater because you are playing a role as a character. This involves exaggerated facial expressions and energy.
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary is a very expressive and unique style of dance. Contemporary can be personalized to include modern movements that go well with the suggested music. Contemporary requires the movement of the entire body as it allows you to express emotions and feel the music.
POINTE
Pointe is a form of classical ballet on specific shoes. Pointe shoes require a lot of ankle strength. When on Pointe you will carry your body weight on your feet that are vertical on the Pointe shoes. This requires balance, control and technique.
ACRO DANCE
Acro Dance combines contemporary and gymnastics to form a highly impressive form of dance. This style includes a great deal of tumbling and acrobatic tricks that require great strength and flexibility. Acro Dance builds on itself in the skills that you are able to learn.
